About Vigilante Coffee
Chris Vigilante's coffee journey began in Hawaii as a barista at Downtown Coffee in Honolulu, where he experienced 'the epiphany' to pursue happiness over money. He arrived in D.C. in 2012 with a 1994 4Runner and a small investment, acquiring a used 5-pound roaster and launching from his back porch. After the fire department axed down the door due to excessive smoke, the company moved to Hyattsville, MD. The first coffee shop opened in 2014, expanding to College Park in 2018 and Oceanside, CA on the West Coast.
