About Wonderstate Coffee
Originally founded as Kickapoo Coffee in 2005 by Caleb Nicholes in Viroqua, Wisconsin, with TJ and Denise Semanchin joining in 2006. Rebranded to Wonderstate after learning the name referenced an Indigenous nation. Their Viroqua cafe operates in a converted 1940s Mobil gas station. Named 2025 Roaster of the Year, they became one of the first 100% solar-powered roasteries in 2015 and are B Corp certified.
Sourcing & Philosophy
Direct relationships with farmers, paying a minimum price guarantee that is double the Fair Trade price. Focus on sustainability and farmer equity.
